Disaster Donations Distribution

2008 Southern California Fires

CaliforniaVolunteers received $9,475.94 in donations from individuals and organizations for victims of the 2008 Southern California Wildfires. It was determined by our Disaster Volunteering and Preparedness Committee that these funds should be directed specifically to victims who were residents of the Oak Ridge Mobile Home Park in Sylmar, California and that the funds should go to an organization that is part of the Long Term Recovery Committee for this disaster, had a case management system to work with disaster victims, and had the capacity and experience to distribute these funds to meet the needs of individual victims. These funds were granted to the Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. The grantee is required to submit quarterly reports that provide specific information on the disbursement of funds to support these individuals. Reports received to date are posted below.
