There are many resources available on the Internet that would be useful to students, educators and Cesar Chavez Service Club staff. The following websites can provide helpful information on the life and contributions of Cesar E. Chavez and the farmworker movement that he led. They also contain good background information on service-learning, youth service, youth organizing as well as programs to recognize youth service.

The Cesar E. Chavez Foundation is dedicated to preserving, promoting and applying the legacy and universal values of Cesar E. Chavez.

United Farm Workers

The United Farm Workers, the union formed by Cesar E. Chavez, maintains this website including this page that provides historical information on the farmworker movement.

The Fight in the Fields

PBS produced a documentary on Cesar E. Chavez and the farmworker struggle. This website provides information on that film as well as an historical timeline.

California Department of Education

The California Department of Education maintains a website which includes a model curriculum and historical materials.

Farmworker Movement Documentation Project

This project compiles and publishes primary source accounts from the volunteers who worked with Cesar E. Chavez to build his farmworker movement during the period, 1962-1993.

The Governor and First Lady's Service Award honors California children ages 5-14 who complete 25 hours of community service in a 12-month period.

Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning Toolkits
CaliforniaVolunteers is pleased to announce three Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning toolkits. Developed by the Volunteer Center of Orange County in conjunction with CaliforniaVolunteers and the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, these toolkits will provide three service-learning activities for Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning on March 31.

These resources will make it easy for any teacher, community leader or parent to implement service-learning activities.
