Resources for AmeriCorps Programs

CaliforniaVolunteers Resources

Each CaliforniaVolunteers AmeriCorps program works closely with a program associate to troubleshoot program challenges, ensure compliance with federal program requirements and identify best practices suitable for use by the program.

AmeriCorps Training Opportunities

Each year, CaliforniaVolunteers sponsors in-person training opportunities for AmeriCorps programs.

2009 California AmeriCorps Conference
In preparation for the launch of the 2009-10 program year, CaliforniaVolunteers held the 2009 California AmeriCorps Conference on June 25-26 in San Francisco. With 54 AmeriCorps State and National programs represented, and 143 program staff in attendance, the conference was a great success! Attendees participated in workshops that offered new strategies for communicating program impacts and new approaches to AmeriCorps member development. Additional sessions touched on fraud prevention and integrating programmatic and fiscal policies and procedures to ensure adequate program oversight. Highlights included discussions on the implementation of the groundbreaking Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act that has reauthorized and updated national service programming, as well as ongoing dialogues about renewing the commitment to service as a solution to tackle our communities’ most pressing needs.

Regional Training Events
Throughout the year, CaliforniaVolunteers organizes regional training events for AmeriCorps State and National Programs. A listing of regional trainings for the 2009-10 program year will be posted as soon as it is available.

Online Training Resources

To supplement its training opportunities, CaliforniaVolunteers has developed online training courses for program staff and potential grantees to complete at their leisure. Courses include:

AmeriCorps 101 - perfect for the new program staff member or an organization interested in learning AmeriCorps basics

Financial Management - designed to review program financial requirements perfect for both program and fiscal staff

Disability Inclusion - provides program staff with fundamental training on inclusion principles

All courses are free of charge and can be accessed by clicking here.
